Swing Explosion Dances

We have a LOT of great dancing in store for you during this weekend! Your Swing Explosion organizers care a lot about great music and we want to make sure that the social dancing is one of the best parts of the weekend!

We'll be kicking off the Swing Explosion weekend with Richard Page's Swingtet, a favourite of local swing dancers. The OSDS Friday night dances have been a fixture in Ottawa for many years, and this one will be extra special! Our out of town instructors will already be in Ottawa so you'll get a chance to dance with and watch some of the awesome dancers you'll be learning from over the course of the weekend!

Saturday Night: Swing Explosion Gala!

It's the focal point of Swing Explosion, and possibly the very best part: The Swing Explosion Gala! Featuring:

• The Impressions in Jazz Orchestra, Ottawa's premiere professional Big Band!
• Authentic recreations of jazz music from the 1920's, 30's and 40's!
• A dedicated West Coast Swing Room with guest DJ Julie Epplett and fave local DJs Old Skool 'n Da Cube!
• The Jitterbug Contest!
• Performances!
• At the Swing Dynamite studio!

The Jitterbug Contest

Our annual Jitterbug Contest is a chance to dance the swing style of your choice with the partner of your choice!

• Dance with your partner
• You can dance any style you want to the music - eg. Lindy Hop, Balboa, Shag, etc. as long as it fits the music
• Contest will be held in the second band set on Saturday night!

Get Together At the Rainbow!

We'll be ending things off with some post-event chillaxing at the Rainbow Bistro! Join us for beers, some great live music, great company, and maybe even a dance or two! $5 cover, not included in the Swing Explosion passes.
